We have in our mind many underlying assumptions that govern our life and behaviour – these are like the default mechanisms of our mind. They are understandings that we hold as truths and yet probably have little or no evidence to support their validity. We base our decisions on these assumptions and live our life with them as our basis of reference; they are like a set of rules about our self, others and the world. So we will examine and challenge some of these mistaken habits of mind, contemplate and meditate so that we can dislodge them and replace them with assumptions that will not mislead us, but will guide us steadily towards greater happiness and freedom.
